A Golden Opportunity?

In a recent white dwarf there was a painting guide for Custodes, and as I had a week off coming up I felt it could be fun to paint up something different, and who knows if I do well enough I may sell it on eBay and turn a little profit.

I bought the models, bought the paints, and enjoyed the painting. So all went to plan so far.

However, it did take me rather longer than I anticipated. Which now leaves me reluctant to sell for a little bit, I'd rather get a GOOD price for them. But while I'm happy with the paintjob, it isn't Golden Daemon standard or anything, so I can't really charge exorbitant fees. So what to do?

I am considering making a specialist artistic item, and thus putting a silly price on it, knowing that it would take a long time to sell, but if someone DID buy it, would make it well worth my while. I believe these custodians could make a good starting point for a Custodians chess set. Probably against Daemons, Nurgle being an obvious contender after reading "The First Wall."

However, this would probably cost close to 500 for models and paints. I'd want to make at least double that for the whole exercise to feel worthwhile, and I think I may have missed the boat somewhat (if I had this ready to sell when everyone was obsessing over the Queens Gambit I reckon I could have easily made the sale, but may now have missed my window.)

So yes, pondering gambling some money on a special project that may be a long time to come to fruition. But given how much of a pain in the arse making the bases for these models was, maybe THAT'S where I should start. On the incredibly cheap but incredibly time consuming bit.
